Ian Denham announced as Representative for England & Wales on the PEOPIL General Board

We are pleased to announce that Outer Temple barrister Ian Denham has been appointed as the new Representative for England and Wales on the PEOPIL General Board.

On Thursday 15th September 2022, PEOPIL announced their new General Board members on the eve of the Annual Conference in Copenhagen. Ian succeeds Philip Mead of 12KBW who steps down after completing his time in this role. Ian will continue to represent the interests of PEOPIL members from England & Wales, which has one of the largest memberships by country. The Board is presided over by Spanish lawyer Ana Romero.

Pan European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL)

PEOPIL was founded in 1996 by a group of personal injury lawyers practicing in various jurisdictions in Europe. Their aim was to set up a networking organisation to provide a forum for personal injury lawyers across Europe and to improve and promote judicial co-operation and mutual knowledge of legal and judicial systems of European jurisdictions in this field.

PEOPIL host a variety of events across Europe, the next being the Annual Conference on 16th – 17th  September in Copenhagen. They also run a number of European Exchange Groups dealing with more specialist legal issues. These include Aviation, RTA and Whiplash and also the Young Lawyers Group. Ian will remain as Secretary of the RTA & Whiplash EEG.

Ian Denham is a leading junior in the field of cross-border personal injury law with a wealth of experience and knowledge in dealing with complex jurisdictional and applicable law issues. He is an accomplished advocate and is regularly instructed to act for both claimants and defendants at trial and contested hearings. He has been the longstanding counsel of choice for a number of major tour operators.

Ian is regularly invited to lecture on aspects of travel law both at home and abroad. He spoke at the PEOPIL Annual Conference 2021 in Málaga, Spain. He will also be speaking at the PEOPIL Annual Conference 2022.
