Outer Temple Chambers hosted a Travel Law Conference in Manchester on 1st June together with a selection of esteemed guests from the travel law industry. This was a hybrid event and the recordings are now available online. The second talk of the day was “Overseas Sports Claims. Including Legal Consequences of Climbing Accidents – International Perspective” presented by Sam Cuthbert and Klára Dvořáková.
Klara opened the presentation with her pre-recorded video on legal consequences of climbing accidents, followed by Sam’s talk on winter sports injuries.

Sam has a broad practice with specialisms in Sports Law, Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence and Private International Law. In a sporting capacity, Sam acts for athletes, clubs and national governing bodies. His practice encompasses sports regulation, safeguarding, disciplinary cases, anti-doping cases, and commercial sports matters. He is regularly instructed in sports related inquests and sports injury disputes. Sam regularly speaks at events and conferences on legal issues arising in a sporting context. Previously, Sam worked in Milan at an international law firm advising on private, commercial, and sports law matters.
Klára is a leading travel law specialist at Holubová, in the Czechia. Klára’s clients are predominantly tour operators, travel agents, hotels and other travel businesses. She is also an experienced professional liability lawyer with a special interest in personal injury cases caused by medical malpractice or accidents during travelling and sports – especially climbing or mountaineering. Klára gained a special attention in Czech media after successfully representing numerous clients of bankrupted tour operators in disputes on paying the insurance claims. The case law of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court which Klara helped to establish, resulted in a change of legislation.
