The 2021 Chambers Bar Awards were back in person this year and the legal fraternity were out in force to celebrate the best in the business.
The evening was held at Old Billingsgate on 18th November and some of the Outer Temple team went along to catch up with colleagues and cheer for Andrew as the shortlist for the ‘Employment Silk of the Year’ category was announced on stage. To everyone’s delight, Andrew was announced as the winner and he can now add his ‘Employment Silk of the Year’ plaque to his trophy wall.
Chambers & Partners describe winners as being “at the pinnacle of the profession”, chosen as a result of extensive objective research by a dedicated team of over 200 analysts.
Rebecca Priestley, CEO of Outer Temple, said “We are all delighted to see Andrew Short QC’s well-deserved recognition as “Employment Silk of the Year” and congratulate him on yet another outstanding year. Andrew, and the teams with whom he works, have continued to lead multi-party equal pay and equality claims representing thousands of people in the UK, from Asda employees to firefighters. Andrew would like to pay tribute to the hard work and dedication of his colleagues, the barristers and staff at Outer Temple and his instructing solicitors with whom he shares and celebrates this success. We are very proud of Andrew and the important work undertaken by him and his colleagues. Well done!”
Andrew’s employment practice covers everything from complex or sensitive dismissal and discrimination cases through TUPE to high value contract, restrictive covenant, fiduciary duty and equal pay claims. He has acted in many of the leading cases relating to discrimination in pay and pensions, including Abdulla v Birmingham City Council, Brierley v Asda, McCloud v Lord Chancellor, and Sargeant v LFEPA.
