Barristers from Outer Temple will join the line up of speakers at the Commercial Bar Association Inaugural Gulf Meeting in Dubai on Thursday 23rd February. The Gulf Committee is pleased to announce that the COMBAR Gulf Meeting will take place in Dubai, on Thursday 23 February 2023. The meeting will involve an afternoon of seminars, with an emphasis on collegiate discussion between professionals across a number of jurisdictions, followed by a drinks reception in the evening. Head of Chambers, James Counsell KC will be attending (remotely) the DIFC Laws Certificate Programme Awarding Ceremony on behalf of Outer Temple Chambers on Tuesday 13th December 2022. The DIFC Laws Certificate Programme is a course organised by the DIFC Academy. Over the course of a 7-month programme, it aims to provide education and training in common law and DIFC laws and courts procedures to civil law lawyers, DIFC Courts practitioners, Emirati advocates, In-house counsel and other professionals whose work involves exposure to common law systems and jurisdictions. The Law Commission’s ‘Digital Assets: Consultation Paper’ is a masterful discussion of many key issues relating to digital assets. While crypto-related fraud reached an all-time high in 2021, with illicit addresses receiving US$14bn over the course of the year*, up 79% on the previous year, matters brought before courts remain comparatively low, in large part due to a lack of funding options for otherwise meritorious lower-value claims. Members of Outer Temple will be providing advocacy training at the DIFC Academy for pupils completing the Common Law Advanced Advocacy Skills. The DIFC Academy of Law have launched this course for Emirati Advocates and other civil law trained lawyers, in-house counsel, and legal professionals seeking to diversify their skills and enhance their professional development.
