Teresa Rosen Peacocke discusses US Specific Jurisdiction over Foreign Parties

Members of Outer Temple Chambers whose practices are closely connected to our New York office, advise solicitors and UK-based clients on their potential exposure to litigation in US courts. They also act for these clients to challenge claims that a US court has jurisdiction over them. In her most recent article, Teresa Rosen Peacocke discusses recent efforts by plaintiffs to expand the definition of specific jurisdiction (requiring a foreign defendant’s US activities to have given rise to the plaintiff’s claim) so that a defendant’s general activities can be linked to a claim on the basis of a ‘sliding scale’. Robert Rhodes QC of Outer Temple Chambers, who is often a keynote speaker at ADR conferences in China and Hong Kong, has this time been invited by the Asian Mediation Association to present at the 4th Asian Mediation Conference. The theme of the event, taking place on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st October in Beijing, is “New Global Trend of Mediation – Similarities and Differences”. Michael Patchett-Joyce appointed a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators

We are pleased to announce that Michael Patchett-Joyce has been appointed a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb). Michael obtained post-graduate qualifications in international commercial arbitration from Queen Mary University of London in 2011 as part of the steps necessary for appointment to fellowship status.
