Daniel Barnett to present own Legal Hour show on LBC Radio

Tune in to LBC Radio at 9pm on Saturday evenings to hear Outer Temple’s Daniel Barnett present his brand new show, ‘The Legal Hour with Daniel Barnett’. Daniel has been known for the last 10 years as LBC’s legal expert, appearing regularly on ‘The Legal Hour with Clive Bull’ to discuss consumer rights, debt problems, employment law and neighbour disputes amongst other issues. Following the success of his appearances, Daniel has now been given his own Saturday evening show. During the show, Daniel will continue to provide general legal advice and thoughts to callers in order to help them navigate their way through legal issues that we may all face in day-to-day life. MyTaxi

Peter Linstead successfully defends MyTaxi in Employment Tribunal

Peter Linstead recently appeared in the Employment Tribunal for the Respondent in Mr Christopher Johnson v MyTaxi Network Ltd 2303018. The background The Claimant in this action worked full-time as a Black Cab driver in London between 2014 and 2016. In February 2017, the Claimant downloaded the driver version of “Mytaxi”, a mobile application that connects Black Cab drivers and passengers. Excluding the “odd trip” in April, the Claimant didn’t actively use the app until the end of July 2017 and made no further trips after 18th April 2018. ‘Employing precautions’ Bianca Venkata published in the Solicitors Journal

Bianca Venkata has been published in the July 2020 edition of the Solicitors Journal for her article considering the impact of the pandemic on employment firms. Bianca provides an overview of the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on employment law firms, litigation in the employment tribunal, and health and safety and GDPR considerations in the work place. She also considers the balance between protecting vulnerable groups from covid-19 with avoiding discrimination. Bianca looks at the potential for future litigation arising out of employment discrimination, particularly with regards to employers who adopt policies based on the vulnerability of particular groups to the virus. Emily Gordon Walker appointed fee-paid Employment Judge

Outer Temple is proud to announce that Emily Gordon Walker has been appointed as a fee paid Employment Judge, sitting at London Central Employment Tribunal. Her appointment brings the total number of appointed fee paid Employment Judges at Outer Temple to three, with her joining Keith Bryant QC and Andrew Allen QC in this position.
